Kidtivity
Kidtivity.com is a website for kids, teens and parents to find events and activities in the Connecticut area. The website was founded in 2002 to bring parents a tool to search for kids activities online. This website community was one of the first of its kind twenty years ago and still aims to provide information to families to have better quality time together.
The client hired me to revamp the brand & logo in 2016, website assistance in 2020, and regular social media consulting.
Logo Redesign
Brief: To design a simple, clean logo that conveys a message of fun and active, without being too busy. Client prefers a pictorial mark that uses bold & friendly colors.
Solution: An abstract trimerous group of colorful children. The children are each doing some type of activity (playing soccer, jumping, painting) to showcase the breadth of events & activities listed on the website, without making the mark too busy. Each character is a different color but they are playing together symbolizing diversity and inclusion. The colors are bright and saturated to give a childlike vide to the logo.
The font is Gadugi with the second tittle enlarged to be the soccer ball in the pictorial mark above. The font is clean and easy to read, just like the activity-searching tool on the website.
Website Redesign
The website build was outsourced to a developer abroad, but I was enlisted to assist with content loading, website branding, and communication with the developers before the launch. The site needed to contain the childlike fun and wonder of the logo, while also being easy to use for parents. The homepage highlights upcoming featured events with a quick link to find more events. The events tab breaks down all upcoming events into 15 categories, both in person and virtually. Users can also view the listing in a calendar format.
While the site does make frequent usage of real pictures of happy children having fun across the state, the fan-favorite trio in the logo do reappear throughout the site to tie the branding together. The footer changes seasonally with the triumvirate doing different activities like playing baseball in Spring or building a snowman in Winter.
