Website Redesign

The Palace Theater originally opened in 1922. After being closed for 17 years, the theater reopened in 2004. The website did not change that much since it was created for the Grand Reopening. In the summer of 2021, I began a seven month project with our website hosting partner to transform our archaic website into a sleek, modern interface.

Patrons love the theater for its quality entertainment, storied history, and beautiful architecture. With over 250 photographs throughout the site, an in-depth history timeline, and new tools to organize upcoming shows & events, I was able to highlight these three key features. Now new site users could clearly understand & appreciate the theater, whether they were searching for tickets to a Broadway show, a venue for their wedding, or a history buff studying Connecticut’s past.

My Role

My role in the website redesign was focused on page layout, content creation, copy-writing, routine content updates and coordinating with the external agency. The Palace Theater partnered with a digital design firm that built the site and currently hosts the site.

The website redesign won an American Graphic Design Award from Graphic Design USA magazine.

Previous Design

The old website was text-heavy in attempting to tell the theater’s story and sell it’s services, rather than using quality images showcasing the space. Here are some desktop screenshots from the previous site.
